Dr. Lara Backus

Dr. Backus is originally from Pittsburgh, having grown up in the Sewickley area until she traveled to Cleveland, Ohio to attend college at Case Western Reserve University. She received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from The Ohio State University in 2016 and completed a rotating small animal internship in Charlotte before traveling to Seattle, Washington to participate in an all-exotics internship program. After practicing at an all-exotics clinic in Maryland, Dr. Backus has returned to the Pittsburgh area to continue her exotics practice at Bethel Park Animal Clinic. In addition to her Greyhound and cat, she shares her home with a snake and an African Grey parrot. She enjoys hiking, cheering for the Penguins and the Pirates, and drawing.
